At your microneedling appointment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. Depending on if you are having an enhanced treatment with natural growth factors (PRP), a vial of your blood will be taken to derive platelets to use for treatment. Then, the microneedling pen will be used to create tiny microchannels in the skin. After the microchannels are made, the platelets will be applied topically like a serum. Alternatively, a hyaluronic acid (HA) serum may be applied to the skin instead.

Result time varies by treatment area, though most patients report visible improvements after two to four weeks. Results will continue to develop anywhere from six to nine months after treatment.

Some patients may be satisfied with results after one treatment. However, for optimal results it is recommended to have a series of 3 microneedling treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Following the treatment, you may experience irritation, redness, and slight swelling in the treated area, similar to a sunburn. However, you can resume your daily activities as usual, provided you follow the post-treatment protocol provided by Dr. Kahan. The irritation typically subsides over a few days, revealing a brighter and smoother complexion.
