Hormones, vital chemical messengers produced within your body, orchestrate a myriad of bodily functions, from metabolism to fertility. However, as the years pass, natural declines in hormone production can lead to imbalances, triggering various symptoms. Perimenopause and menopause are common contributors to hormonal imbalance in women, but other causes may include inflammation, stress, lifestyle factors, toxin exposures, and more.
Recognizable signs of hormonal imbalance include:
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can restore balance and enhance your well-being. For optimal results and minimal side effects, I utilize bio-identical hormone therapy. These hormones are identical to those naturally produced in the human body, unlike synthetic alternatives created in the lab. Bio-identical hormones are available in various forms, including creams, patches, pills, suppositories, and pellets. They can be obtained in FDA-approved forms from conventional pharmacies or in customized formulations from compounding pharmacies.
Regardless of the chosen form of hormone therapy, it’s important to recognize that your body requires time to adjust to supplemental hormones. Patience is key as you navigate through the process, and it’s beneficial to track any changes you observe over time so that we can make necessary adjustments to your regimen. Hormone therapy isn’t a quick fix, and so with that in mind, our hormone replacement therapy is offered as part of an initial 3 month program where we can tailor treatment to your individual needs.
Ditch the One-Size-Fits-All Approach:
At SheMD, consultations go beyond addressing a single symptom. I recognize that often patients have felt dismissed by other providers, who either minimize their symptoms and labs as “normal” or simply give a prescription and nothing more. I take the time to understand your overall health picture, similar to how a detective investigates a crime scene, not just a single clue.
Advanced Diagnostics, Not Just Guesses:
I utilize specialized lab tests to uncover potential roadblocks to your well-being, such as hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, and hidden inflammation. By identifying these underlying issues, we can help prevent future health concerns, and also help ensure that we are replacing hormones into a healthy environment so that we can achieve the best possible results.
Your Personalized Roadmap to Wellness:
I create a customized plan specifically for you, addressing factors contributing to your health challenges (like toxins or chronic inflammation), while incorporating solutions that support your body’s natural healing abilities (including vitamins or supplements, if needed).
Your Success is My Priority:
I am here to support you every step of the way, through nutrition, stress reduction, supplementation, and toxin-avoidance. I want to help you establish sustainable healthy habits and achieve long-term wellness. I’m your partner on the path to a vibrant and thriving life!
How the Programs Work:
You’ll start with an appointment to review the results of the labs ordered during your initial Wellness Consultation. We’ll decide which of your symptoms are due to hormonal imbalances and determine a course of action to treat the problem.
Lab Evaluation:
Depending on your symptoms, we’ll review test results such as:
Your Plan:
You have monthly check in visits to ensure that you’re progressing and your symptoms are subsiding. An additional round of tests will be ordered during your third month so we can be certain you are making improvements.
At the completion of your program, you will have a comprehensive review of your progress and we will determine what changes, if any, need to be made to your treatment plan. During this appointment a plan will be made to continue to monitor your progress moving forward.
Prior to your initial consultation, you will complete our health intake forms so I can properly review your history and past lab results ahead of time. During the appointment, we will review your medical history so that we can establish a baseline of your current overall health and nutritional status. I’ll help you understand the most likely causes of your current health issues, and explain how I can help. Together we’ll determine which wellness program is the best fit for you.
We start with an in-depth analysis of where you are today. Based on your medical history and health goals, you’ll undergo a series of comprehensive tests to assess your current hormonal balance, your nutritional status, and your stress levels.
Once the lab analysis is complete, I’ll create your personalized wellness program to help you reach your goals and address any current symptoms and health issues. Depending on the program you choose, this may include one of our specialized nutrition or weight loss programs, mentoring on lifestyle strategies and stress management, individual regimen of highest grade nutritional supplements, and bio-identical hormone therapy where appropriate. Together, we’ll get to work to help you achieve your health goals and make your results sustainable.
The “Balance & Bliss” program is for people experiencing the classic symptoms of hormonal imbalance; fatigue, night sweats, menstrual problems, insomnia, low libido, anxiety, irritability or depression. This 3 month program focuses exclusively on getting your hormones back in balance. Using the Hormone Balancing Triad formula, I go beyond the typical way most providers dispense HRT prescriptions. Rather, I focus on the triad of hormones, including sex hormones, stress hormones, and thyroid hormones. As these are all interconnected, it is essential to address any imbalances present within this triad in order to get optimal and long lasting results.
The more comprehensive “Balance & Burn” program combines the hormonal wellness program with the weight loss program, as hormonal imbalances are often found to be an underlying factor in weight management issues. In fact, patients who are also on hormone replacement therapy tend to have even better weight loss results. Using the VITAL approach, we Vitalize hormones, Inhibit toxins, Thrive with nutrition, Activate lifestyle, and Lessen stress.
At your initial visit, we will discuss your concerns and goals to determine which program is best for you!
I saw Dr. Kahan for the first time last month. She's very nice, patient, and explains things clearly. Also, her office is very clean. I would say she's the best gynecologist.
